NotifyLA is the updated emergency response system for all of Los Angeles. The new design is a very timely response by the Emergency Management Department to the failures of the emergency notification system uncovered by the Mandeville Fire Evacuation Drill in May 2014.

Sign up to receive emergency warnings by land line, cell phone and text at http://emergency.lacity.org/EOCOperations/NotifyLA/index.htm

We have not yet been notified of any tests of the system as we had been promised. Nor do we know if the HOAs will be responsible for advertising this service to residents, or if the EMD will inform everyone that it is ready, but everyone should register now.

The other Emergency system which did not function during our Evacuation Exercise was S.N.A.P., the County Disaster Registry intended to inform the first responders how to locate those residents who will need physical assistance in an emergency. You can register online for this service.
